In April 2010 a small group of professionals and brain injury survivors got together to put plans in place to set up a Headway group in Liverpool.
On Wednesday 10th November 2010 at the Neuro Support Centre in Liverpool, Headway Liverpool are holding an information event.
The group are hoping that the event will be attended by members old and new and everyone attending will enjoy the programme which includes short talks around a variety of issues associated with brain injuries.
Talks will be given by Dr Christopher Gardner (Research fellow at Aintree University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust), Dr Ken Barratt (Consultant in Neuropsychology), Dr Ivan Pitman (Consultant in Neuropsychology and Rehabilitation from the Brain Injury Rehabilitation Trust) and Alistair White (Headway North East Regional Co-Ordinator).
Rachel Donovan, solicitor from the specialist clinical negligence team at John Pickering and Partners solicitors, who is also part of Headway Liverpool steering committee said:
“We are hoping that Headway Liverpool will become a thriving group that can help provide essential support and social opportunities for people with brain injuries. Brain injury can have a huge impact on people’s lives and the lives of their family, yet sufferers often slip through the net because they frequently do not display obvious signs that they are brain injured.
At Headway Liverpool we do believe that it is so important to provide a support network and help people once there is nothing that can be done for them medically. We do hope that as many people as possible can come along to the information event on the 10th November 2010 at the Liverpool Neuro Support Centre, to support the new Headway Liverpool group”.
Headway the Charity works to improve life after brain injury and provide information, support and services for people affected by brain injury and their families.
A network of local groups and branches throughout the UK and Channel Islands offers a wide range of services, including rehabilitation programmes, care and support, social reintegration, community outreach and respite care. The services available will vary depending on local needs and resources.
