Nursing
The standard of nursing care is critical to any time we spend in lost whether it is to have a baby or have heart operation.
There are basic things that need to be assessed by the nursing staff to be able to care for their patient correctly.
These would include:
- Acting as a patients advocate
- Assessing the patient “at risk” score and then devising a care plan focusing on the patients aims, objectives and outcome
- Regard to pain assessment and prescribing of medication
- Recognising when intervention is needed and providing appropriate aids and equipment
- Quality documentation keeping
A lot of the time we are instructed in relation to pressure sore development and their management.
Pressure Sores
Pressure ulcers are also known as pressure sores, or bed sores. They occur when the skin and underlying tissue becomes damaged. In very serious cases, the underlying muscle and bone can also be damaged.
People who are unable to move some or all of their body due to illness, paralysis or advanced age often develop pressure ulcers.
